Association for the Advancement of Biodiversity Science has been formed to create wider knowledge and awareness to conserve biodiversity worldwide by means of providing platform for eminent researchers to share their experience, practical problems and solutions in conserving biodiversity. The association is an apolitical, non-governmental, non-profit organization registered at Belgaum, Karnataka, India (1079/2011-12) for promotion of biodiversity science worldwide. The association will incorporate all national and international academic institutions, research institutions, companies and individuals sharing interest in conservation of biodiversity.

The objectives of the association are as follows:

• to create awareness and propagate the importance and human impact on biodiversity by encouraging basic and applied research and disseminating their results for conservation of biodiversity

• to publish books, journals and reports based on biodiversity research and applications

• to create platform to collaborate scientific researchers, academicians and industrial persons of the country with international research and academic institutes

• to organize conferences, seminars, symposia, workshop and training programs for the development of knowledge on biodiversity, and

• to encourage and honor such biodiversity and conservation related issues by means of announcing FABSc (Fellow, Association for the Advancement of Biodiversity Science), awards, medals and prizes to individuals and institutions every year at the regional, national and international levels
